ARiMI CPD
What is CPD?
CPD – Continuing Professional Development – exists to ensure that graduates keep themselves updated and enhance their skills and abilities once they have been formally certified by an institute. It is widely recognised as a fundamental means of improving the professional standards and skills of individuals and their industries.
The Purpose and Importance of CPD
Unlike an academic degree, a professional certification is a guarantee to your employers and clients that you have the competence to perform in the field for which you are certified. At a minimum, this competency must be maintained throughout your professional career. Therefore, it must be validated by meeting the requirements of CPD and endorsed by ARiMI.
It is a means of improving your knowledge as you progress in your career after obtaining certification. CPD is necessary because it keeps your thinking fresh, your skills relevant and your motivation high. Among the benefits of CPD for ARiMI graduates is the opportunity to demonstrate to your employer and potential employer your commitment to self-development and professionalism in your work area and career path. It represents the investment you are making in yourself. CPD represents the value you place on your career advancement, recognition and promotion.
Are CPD Activities Time-Consuming
There is a misconception that CPD takes up a lot of time. At ARiMI, we recognise that people learn in different ways. Therefore, anything that improves your knowledge, skills, and behaviour in risk management and related areas can be considered for CPD. Keep in mind, however, that activities should be educational, relevant to risk management, and build on the knowledge and skills you acquired when you earned your certification.
Eligible CPD activities are divided into 5 categories:
- Contribution to the body of knowledge
- Obtaining new qualifications and recognition
- Teaching and/or training others
- Staying informed and learning
- Contribution to the ARiMI scale community
CPD Cycle
Your first CPD cycle begins on the date of your certification. After an initial validity period of 2 years, your professional certification will be renewed annually. Credits can be earned by participating in a wide range of learning activities described above. For details, please refer to ARiMI CPD Program Handbook.
