Indeed Reputation is one of the most critical and strategic assets that an organization possesses to compete in a global and competitive world and hence MUST be managed like a value Creation Asset carefully optimizing the Risk/Return Balance.
Warren Buffett (Chairman and CEO, Berkshire Hathaway) also noted that:
Unfortunately too many organizations and business leaders while constantly looking at projecting a carefully crafted Reputation to look ‘good’, did not allocate as much efforts to ground it on solid enough foundations. Hence, the last decade has seen many of the world’s most admired companies, and leaders such as Toyota, Goldman Sachs, AIG, BP and DSK descend from their pedestal.
When decisions and practices in the boardroom and throughout the organization are at odds with ethical values and key expectations of your stakeholders, your reputation is at risk. Sooner or later, the gap will be exposed at tremendous cost for you and your organization.
It is time to think about differently!
